what's in YOUR basement?

we moved into the tri-plex a week after zoom was born, after over a month of cleaning, painting and redoing the floors. from the beginning the plan has been to remodel the basement and create another two-bedroom apartment. hubby has been working so hard, and finally we are seeing some major changes! who knew there was so much prep work!
the basement was nasty, random walls everywhere, wallpaper in layers over concrete, funky floor, low ceilings....we tore all that out. it has been a dirty process. we have had so much help from family and friends. my dad said jackhammering concrete and hauling it up in 5 gallon buckets was the work for prisoners and father-in-laws, but we couldn't tear him away from it! thanks dad! the pile of broken concrete grew in the backyard faster than the snow was piling up.
then last week tom came over with his giant excavator and took it all away. whew!
glad we didn't seed the lawn last fall.
we've installed the tubing for in-floor heat, and poured 3/4 of the concrete - it is starting to look like a finished basement!!
it is so amazing to see something so ugly turn into a beautiful space. i pretty much stand in awe of the vision of my hubby!
