this weekend zoom grew up.
he is a total mama's boy and has a radar that can sense if i am more than about 15 feet from him - even if he is playing very happily by himself or with others.
this weekend he played outside BY HIMSELF for a good 45 minutes. what was originally the lawn, more recently the pile of broken concrete from our basement, and is now black dirt was the playground of dreams. he worked away with his little trowel, moving dirt. he picked up rocks and moved them into little piles. he tapped his trowel on the gutter, making music. he took his snack on the picnic table. he didn't even look up for me. i was giddy, working in the kitchen like a madwoman. but i was also the one looking out the window every few minutes. i was the one stepping out on the deck to check on him and take a photo.
sigh. he is growing up.
