we left minneapolis during yet another snowstorm, and landed in seattle in the midst of spring. spring in seattle is AMAZING!! everything was green and in bloom! we spent hours outside. zoom followed papa around as he moved his collection of wood from the driveway into the backyard. he and papa tag teamed the edging of the gardens in the back, switching off tools as the moved. the two of them would take the dog for a walk up to the school. i worked on the garden i planted when i was studying horticulture (i still feel responsible for the maintenance of those plants). we picked flowers and harvested rhubarb!! it felt so good to be outside, breathe spring air and get dirt under our nails. well, maybe not so much the dirt under our nails part.
dad is retired. while he is finished working for the man, he is far from finished working. during his first week off he:
- cut a few trees and is neatly stacking them in his backyard for burning or selling
- had two practices for his softball team for 60-65 yr olds
- cleaned off his desk as home (we haven't seen the top for years)
- woke up every morning by 7am
